Grilled Steak with Basil Infused Rice and Mixed Veggies

There is nothing more that I love to see on my plate than a good piece of well cooked meat. (This sentence originally could have been interpreted differently, but I decided to re-word it for all of those dirty minds out there - including myself. As I'm typing this, I'm not really sure why I chose to share this with you, but oh well...)

As I was saying... A nice steak with a few simple sides can be one dynamite meal. In this instance I coated the steak with olive oil before seasoning it with garlic salt, pepper, and rosemary and then placing it on my cast iron grill pan. For my sides, I threw in some chopped basil with my rice and heated up some frozen mixed vegetables, and voila! A meal fit for a king.

The Ikon Vodka Martini

Not only am I hungry, but I get thirsty too!

I bought a bottle of the Absolut Brooklyn vodka recently because I figured, "Hey... I live in Brooklyn." This drink is 2 parts vodka, 1 part triple sec, and 1 part cranberry juice. Shake with ice and enjoy.

Spicy Italian Burger

I absolutely loooove a good cheeseburger. This time I tried to mix it up a little bit by using a mix of spicy italian sausage and ground beef to form the patties. Cook to your desired doneness by whatever method you choose (although I would err on the side of caution and well done due to the pork in the patty) and top with a slice of pepper-jack cheese. A good tip for melting the cheese is to cover the burger with a lid along with a little water to create some steam. Top it with whatever condiments you so desire, grab a beer (or other beverage) and then it's time to go to town.
