Fried Pork Chops with Macaroni and Cheese

Let’s start with the pork chops!

Ingredients:

  • pork chops (choose your favorite cut and go with it)
  • flour
  • chili powder
  • paprika
  • seasoned salt
  • pepper
  • garlic salt
  • vegetable oil

Instructions:
These are really simple to make. Season your meat with all of the above seasonings. Also, add a healthy dose of the chili powder and paprika to the flour and mix it together. Dredge the pork chops in the flour mixture and be sure to shake off any excess. Then just fry them up in a pan with enough oil in it that it goes about halfway up the side of the chop. (FYI – They will get a dark brown color because of the chili powder and paprika in the flour. Don’t panic – they’re not burnt!)

Now on to the macaroni and cheese!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of elbow macaroni
  • 12 oz can of evaporated milk
  • 12 oz of regular milk (there’s no need to use different types of milk, but I only had one can of the evaporated milk, so I just grabbed the carton from the fridge for the rest)
  • 16 oz of your favorite cheese
  • 1 egg
  • butter
  • salt and pepper

Instructions:

  • Cook the macaroni. (Well that was easy enough…)
  • In a sauce pan, pour in your milk and beat in one egg. (You can do this before the you turn on the heat so that everything is at the same temperature. Then turn on the burner, but be sure to keep it low/medium so that the egg doesn’t scramble.)
  • Mix in your cheese. (Kitchen Lesson: So, most of the time I just experiment with ingredients and see what I come up with. This time I decided to experiment with different types of cheeses. I used one bag of cheddar jack, which I had used before and things came out fine, but I also decided to try mozzarella… I ate it all, but let’s just say that I don’t think I’ll be using mozzarella in my macaroni again any time soon.)
  • Coat a large baking pan with butter.
  • Add in the macaroni and combine with the cheese mixture. Also season with some salt and pepper.
  • Save some of the cheese to put on top so that you’ll get a nice cheese crust on top.
  • Bake in the oven. (I’m not really sure how long or on what temperature it was for, but I would guess 375 for 30 minutes???)

Bon Appetit!
